RIP Chayson

August 2nd, 2011 by Sushi Shiono

I can’t believe that it’s been over a year since Chayson Kiyoshi Ehukai Matsuoka was taken from us. You always made the world a little bit brighter and lighter. We all miss you so much.

This is how I’ll always remember you:

Chayson’s bio from the About the Chefs page:

Chayson loves being a sushi chef and loves to create new dishes for customers that want to try something new. Just seeing their faces when they are pleased with their meal is a very big pleasure for him. On his days off he likes to go to the beach, relax, spend time with friends, and think of work when he’s not at work. Chayson loves the sunny weather, good attitudes, endless beaches, delicious food, beautiful wildlife, gorgeous people, and most of all HAWAII! His specialty is the delicious Kiyoshi Roll — shrimp tempura, cream cheese, avocado, spicy tuna, and snow crab SEARED with a three-sauce mix.

We Stand with Japan!

March 18th, 2011 by Sushi Shiono

An 8.9 magnitude earthquake hit Japan early Friday, March 11, approximately 250 miles northeast of Tokyo, sparking a tsunami that caused major destruction in northern Japan.  According to reports, more than 6,400 people have died, more than 10,200 people are still reported missing and more than 390,000 people are living in shelters.

Rescue efforts are complicated by aftershocks, tsunami alerts, radiation risks from damaged nuclear plants, electricity outages, snow, and freezing temperatures.
